Here we are with volume 2. This covers May through August.
We didn't start May off with a wedding, but mid-May we had two back to back. I actually met my girlfriend at Colleen and Adam's wedding in Asheville, which is a big deal!
Adam and Colleen had their wedding at The Venue and it was awesome. I mean, just look at this cake setup!
Immediately after the ceremony, we hopped out into downtown Asheville to take some portraits. It was quite nice outside and the wind gave this photo a little action.
The greenery is why I moved to Asheville!
Adam actually got up on stage and DESTROYED the sax with the band. I don't know if I will ever see anything like that again.
I think Colleen was very happy about it.
That night, I drove to Old Fort and camped in my car, trying to get some headway as I had to be in Raleigh the next day to shoot Kevin and Amber. I got sick in the night with congestion and a sore throat, but had to push through and I'm glad I did. We got some sweet shots!
Mordecai Park has some lovely scenery.
One loves Pepsi, one loves Coke and they love each other.
Back in Wilmington...the ladies get some grinds at The Space.
There's nothing like a Skarty. That's Skate-Party for you who do not ride the four wheels. Frank's memorial day party theme was "Skip the Beach" and I'm glad I did. This was fun. Alec goes alley-oop switch nosegrind back in fakie.
Alec, fan of the alley-oop, takes a grab around the deep end.
Twain, aka Zack, smith grinds into the corner though I'm not sure anyone will be able to see him.
This is why Skartys are the best.
This is also why they're the best. Live music, people doing funny things, fireworks, beer, skateboarding. Who could ask for anything else?
This was the kick-off to my few-week-long Carolina to Virginia and back expedition. It rained a lot in this period of time.
I moved into an apartment in Asheville and immediately left to shoot a wedding in Charlotte. Taylor and Ashlyn had a small ceremony at their parent's home in Matthews and it was quaint.
Can't beat a good bouquet.
I was worried the light in the backyard mid-afternoon would be a little overwhelming so I busted out a little softbox and popped some fill to balance out that beautiful dapple light you only get from a southern backyard.
Even the pups enjoyed this one!
Like I said, I moved up to Asheville and it was so nice. Summer time in the mountains is unbeatable. This is my brother.
Back down in Wilmington, my good friends tied the knot. This was a wedding like no other. It was just like a skate session where I bring the camera, except for the part where there was a wedding and I had to make people take group shots, but it had the same comfortable feel of a regular day at the ramp. Everything was beautiful this day.
See? I told you it was a regular day at the ramp. Timmy front rocks in his wedding clothes.
All my friends are beautiful.
The waves were flat so Rob went crowd surfing. Not sure if it was voluntary or not, but he got barreled.
Everything was amazing this day. Nothing but smiles and good times all around.
Back up in Asheville...seriously I don't know how many times I've driven across this state...Eric did a back crail on the new Foundation obstacle.
Aaaannndddd back down to Wilmington again for the wedding of some more great friends! Jake and Maggie took their vows at the Coastline Convention Center in downtown Wilmington. Keana the flower girl got a little practice in beforehand.
Not bad for indoor lighting, right?
I think they are pretty pleased with how it went.
Oh yeah, definitely pleased with it.
Again, back in Asheville. Thrashville was on its way out so we got in plenty of sessions before they carted it out the door. Rob is the owner of Push and he skates. If all the shop owners skated and contributed to skateboarding the way Rob and Push do, the world would be a better place.
To end the month of August, I shot some photos of my brother's band, Depression Surfers, in the Black Mountain Light Center. This place is creepy and weird and somehow empty all the time and you can just go there and meditate and stuff.
They have a piano too. This could be an 80's album insert or something.
